French toast has been a family favorite for years. In fact, it has been around for an extremely long time. “The first known recorded recipe for French toast comes from Rome around 300 A.D.” according to www.wtamu.edu. It takes the simple ingredients and creates a delicious morning meal.
In this recipe, we create a breakfast sandwich that uses French toast and bacon and creates a morning masterpiece that will please your hungry family.
French Toast Breakfast Sandwich
Did you say French toast that made into a sandwich with BACON?
Ingredients
For French Toast
- 8 slices Texas toast or other thick sliced bread
- 3 Eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ⅔ cup Whole Milk
- ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
For Sandwich
- 1 lb Breakfast sausage divided into 4 equal size patties
- 8 slices Bacon
- 4 slices Cheddar cheese (You can also use shredded)
- 4 Eggs
- 4 tsp Maple Syrup
Instructions
Make the French Toast
- Combine 3 eggs, milk, vanilla, and cinnamon in bowl and mix well
- Preheat griddle to medium heat
- Soak bread in egg/milk mixture, coat both sides and cook on lightly buttered griddle and cook until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side
Eggs, Sausage & Bacon
- Cook eggs (scrambled, fried, over easy, etc), sausage and bacon on griddle, flipping every few minutes until throughly cooked
- Cover sausage patty with slice of cheese and let melt
