These Asian Sloppy Joes are a great twist with amazing flavor. This is also an easy recipe if you want to make ahead and heat up later. These are even great for tailgating.
If you are looking to use short cuts when making the slaw, feel free to use some of the ready made asian dressings you might find at the store but this homemade slaw only takes a few extra minutes.
Asian Inspired Sloppy Joes
Equipment
- Griddle
Ingredients
Meat Mixture
- 1 lb Howe Farms ground pork
- 1 Green Pepper diced
- 1 Sweet or yellow onion diced
- Colonel De’s Asian Blend Seasoning or other Asian seasoning blend to taste
Slaw
- 8 oz bag of shredded red cabbage
- 2-3 green onions sliced
- 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
Slaw Dressing
- 3 tbsp vegetable oil
- 2 tsp sesame oil
- 1/4 cup rice vinegar
- 4 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 clove minced garlic
- 2 tsp minced or grated ginger
- sprinkle of red pepper flakes to taste
- sprinkle of salt and pepper to taste
Sandwich
- 4 St. Pierre Brioche Buns or bun of your choice
- Bachans Sauce
Instructions
- Mix dressing ingredients in a small bowl.
- Combine slaw ingredients in a large bowl and pour dressing over the slaw mixture, toss to combine.
- Place slaw in fridge until ready to serve.
- Heat up griddle, cast iron pan, or your preferred method to medium heat and coat surface with some olive oil.
- Place ground pork, diced green peppers and onions on griddle and season with Colonel De’s Asian Blend to taste.
- Brown pork mixture until throughly cooked, I like the peppers and onions to have a little bite instead of a soft texture.
- Toast buns on the griddle and then build those sandwiches.
- Pile the meat on the bun, top with the slaw mixture and then cover it with Bachans Sauce
- Enjoy!!
